Cherie Gibson is an experienced Clinical Therapist with over 20 plus combined years experience in the education and counselling sectors working with adults, parents, children and families,. Cherie has undertaken additional training to support families, and has a keen interest in child development, effective parenting, conflict resolution, family separation and strengthening family relationships.
Cherie works with adults, couples, children and families using a variety of modalities that best suit each client, providing them with a variety of tools and strategies to strengthen relationships within the family unit.
Cherie also specialises in supporting families through the transition of family separation which is a time of grief, loss and turmoil for all members of the family. Cherie has completed additional professional development with the Mental Health Academy to become a Family Law Counsellor enabling her to provide additional support to those families embarking and progressing through the Family Law Court. Cherie has a strong interest and understanding of child development, behavioural issues and ASD alongside the impact this can have on the way family members relate to each other.
Cherie is a regular presenter at state and national conferences in the area of parenting and raising resilient children.. Cherie was a presenter at the 2019 National FRSA Conference where her peer reviewed paper was also published in the 2019 FRSA eJournal. Cherie is a Child Consultant within the framework of mediation trained by Jennifer McIntosh. She is also a registered facilitator for Parents Under Pressure (PUP), Bringing Up Great Kids (BUGK) and No More Scaredy Cats.
Cherie is member of The Australian Counselling Association.

Cherie is a clinical counsellor, recently completing her Master in Counselling to further support her clients. In addition to working with individuals, she also has significant expertise and understanding in child development, behaviour issues , Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD and the impact this can have on the way family members relate to each other.
Calm Transitions prides itself on using the modalities that best suit each client, regardless of age, to enable them to work towards achieving their specific goals. Our therapist operates from the belief that the greatest holders of change within a family unit are the parents. She believes in meeting and working with parents initially, before meeting children.
